Synopsis[]
It's the morning after the Green Hornet and Kato busted up a gang of illegal firearms dealers, and Paul is telling Britt II and Hayashi about the movie he, Alan, and Heather saw last night, Time After Time, unaware of his Uncle Britt's nocturnal adventure that was occurring at the same time. Suddenly, Paul calls everyone to come in, that "Cousin Diana" was on television.
At a press briefing, District Attorney Diana Reid) explains that the Green Hornet was responsible for the capture of the gun-runners, but by no means was the vigilante a partner of the police department.
After the press meeting, Britt II, Alan, Paul, Diana, and Hayashi have lunch at the Reid Estate with the elder Britt and Ruth. As the two boys play out in the yard, Britt II and Diana discuss the press conference and any clues they might have gathered during the bust. Britt II and Diana eventually piece together that an older gangster named Joey "Jackknife" DeVane, whom they thought had gone into retirement, may be behind a recent surge of mob activity. Meanwhile, Alan and Paul discover the original 1930s Black Beauty inside an old barn on the Reid estate after accidentally breaking a boarded up window with a football.
Later that night, the Green Hornet and Kato pay a visit to "Jackknife" and his son, David. After confronting DeVane about his return to the criminal world, the Hornet and Kato leave, telling DeVane that he's "just an old fool who doesn't know when to quit." After the masked vigilantes step outside the house, the old gangster is murdered with three shots from a revolver by an unseen assassin. The Hornet and Kato, still close to the house, hear the shots ring out from inside. Before they can investigate any further, Britt II clutches his chest and falls back into Kato's arms before hitting the ground. A newspaper clipping covering DeVane's murder as it's front page headline mentions in a smaller block of text that Britt Reid II had suffered a heart attack, but is expected to pull through.
