The debut issue of The Green Hornet was a comic book published by Gold Key Comics. It was released in November 1966 with a February 1967 cover date. It was the first Green Hornet comic book published by Gold Key, who had acquired the license to produce a tie-in series with the television show, which was then in the middle of its first and only season. While the comic is ostensibly set within the continuity of the show, and largely adheres to the precedents which it had set, there are occasional discrepancies. For example, in the Gold Key series, Lenore Case's first name is only ever given as "Casey," even in official character profiles, which "Casey" is merely her nickname on the TV series.
The comic book contained a single 32-page story, "Ring of Terror" and included black and white character profiles on the inside of the front and back covers.
The cover synopsis read, "The Green Hornet and Kato combat a ruthless gang whose victims are forced to obey criminal commands!"
