The Green Hornet: The Case of the Disappearing Doctor is a novel written by Brandon Keith. It is a tie-in novel to the Green Hornet television series and, as such, is intended to be set within the same universe as that series. It was originally published by Whitman Publishing Company in 1966. A second printing was published by the same publisher in 1968.

The novel includes the following characters, listed in order of appearance:

  • Dr. Hans Brandt, a world-renowned East German physicist who has fled to the United States for political asylum. The crime Boss Carlos Velasco tries to press him into creating new aircraft and munition designs which can be sold on the global black market.
  • Konrad Brandt, Dr. Brandt's teenage son who flees to America with him.
  • Lenore Case, Britt Reid's personal secretary and confidante. She is one of the few people aware that he is secretly the masked vigilante known as the Green Hornet.
  • Britt Reid, the debonair young publisher-owner of the Daily Sentinel who also secretly operates as the masked vigilante the Green Hornet.
  • Frank Scanlon, the county district attorney, who is aware of Reid's dual identity as the Green Hornet, and works with him to combat crime in Metropolitan City.
  • Carlos Velasco, a wealthy crime boss who uses his legitimate business operations as a cover for his criminal activity. Although his business operations are based in Argentina, he and his wife live in Valley Grove, a suburb of Metropolitan City.
