Sam Catchem as he appears in the Dick Tracy comic strip's Green Hornet crossover arc
Sam Catchem is a character who appears in the Dick Tracy comic strip. He is the police partner of Dick Tracy and a member of their city's Major Crimes Unit, which Tracy heads up. He appeared in 12 of the 49 daily installments that constituted the Dick Tracy comic strip's Green Hornet crossover arc.

Within the crossover arc, Catchem first appears discussing the recent capture of a counterfeiting ring with Dick Tracy. He later accompanies Tracy when they act upon Lafayette Austin's tip to Chief Patton and bust Cyrus Topper's attempt to extort money from Lonnie Jarman. The Green Hornet had preceded them to the site, and the detectives attempt to capture the masked vigilante, but he ultimately slips away.
Catchem and Tracy later encounter both Topper and the Green Hornet again when Topper attempts to extort money from the President of Mazuma National Bank. This time the Hornet's crime-fighting partner, Kato, is with him and a brief brawl erupts when which Kato subdues Catchem and both the criminals and the police officers are eventually rendered unconscious by the Green Hornet's sleeping gas grenade. Although the Hornet and Kato get away, the police department apprehends Topper and his gang. Shortly afterward, when Major Crimes Unit member Lizz Worthington-Grove confirms that the Green Hornet has once again been spotted in his home base of Central City, Catchem comments to Tracy that he really made the hornet take flight.
