The offices of the Major Crimes Unit as it appears in the Dick Tracy comic strip's Green Hornet crossover
The Major Crimes Unit is a unit of the local police department in the Dick Tracy comic strip. It is headed up by lead detective Dick Tracy under the supervision of Chief Patton and has its offices within the police station. As Tracy's place of work, it has a major presence in the comic strip, including during the Green Hornet crossover arc. Officers Sam Catchem and Lizz Worthington-Grove also appear in the crossover arc as a members of the Unit. Following a tip from newspaper publisher Britt Reid, who is secretly the masked crime-fighter the Green Hornet, Patton tasks the Major Crimes Unit with apprehending gangster Cyrus Topper who has newly arrived in their city. After several run-ins with both Topper's gang and the Green Hornet, the criminal is apprehended and booked.
