Lenore Case is a character who appears during the Green Hornet crossover arc in the Dick Tracy comic strip. She appeared in twelve of the arc's 49 daily installments.
Role in the comic strip[]
Lenore Case is the executive assistant of The Daily Sentinel newspaper publisher Britt Reid and one of the few people aware that Britt is secretly the masked vigilante known as the Green Hornet. She accompanies Britt when he travels to Dick Tracy's city in order to stop stop the criminal Cyrus Topper. As Britt's crime-fighting partner, Kato is undercover posing as Topper's servant, Lenore volunteers to temporarily fill in as the driver of the Green Hornet's supercar, the Black Beauty. In order to protect her identity, she adopts the costumed persona of the Red Wasp while in this role. Britt eventually reunites with Kato and successfully stops Topper. Since law-enforcement officials believe the Green Hornet to be a criminal himself, and Dick Tracy is a formidable detective, Lenore precedes Britt and Kato in their return to their home city. This causes supposed sightings of the Green Hornet in Central City by local law-enforcement, buying Britt and Kato extra time to return home without being pursued by Tracy and the Major Crimes Unit.
