John Winslow is a recurring character who appeared in at least two episodes of the Green Hornet radio series, spanning from February to October of 1938. He is a crooked politician who eventually rises to the position of New York City's district attorney.
Role in the radio series[]
When he first appears in Episode 212, John Winslow is a local politician whose exact position is unspecified. He is engaged in a scheme that allows him to personally profit through a steady stream of vehicular accidents arranged by Rodney Brooks. [The Daily Sentinel|Daily Sentinel]] reporter Jasper Jenks begins to catch onto Winslow's unscrupulous history and manipulates the politician into believing that Brooks is actually the Green Hornet and is using Winslow for his own gain. Meanwhile, the police search Winslow's office and learn about the arranged accidents. While it is implied that Winslow is destined for jail following his first appearance, when he resurfaces several months later, he has become district attorney. In this episode, the arrest of local dealer Barney Leopolod leads to the uncovering of a massive drug ring with Winslow as its leader. Winslow makes his final known appearance a few weeks later, where he becomes the latest victim of a gang of burglars. He subsequently confesses to Britt Reid that he was involved in a stock manipulation scheme years ago, and this information allows Reid, in his guise as the Green Hornet, to bring the leader of the burglars, Professor Zemo, to Justice.
