James Reid is a character who appears in the 2011 film adaptation of the Green Hornet, where he replaces the role usually filled by Dan Reid. James is Britt’s seemingly cold-hearted and vindictive father. He is portrayed by English actor Tom Wilkinson.
Role in 2011 film[]
James is a widower and a wealthy newspaper owner who disapproves of Britt's playboy lifestyle. Everything changes when James suddenly dies from what appears to be an allergic reaction to a bee sting, leaving Britt as his sole heir. His death leads to a chain of events culminating in Britt's becoming the Green Hornet.
Over the course of the film, it is revealed that the local district attorney, Frank Scanlon, wanted James to slant the news, but he refused. To stop the chaos, he stopped reporting on crime. When Benjamin Chudnofsky began his bid to take control all the Los Angeles gangs, James wanted to cut the strings and report on crime again. Then, Scanlon arranged a secret meeting with James and killed him with the apitoxin bee sting poison, making it look like an allergic reaction.
Notes[]
James Reid is the name of Dan Reid (father o Dan) and John Reid's (Lone Ranger) father, therefore, the original Dan's grandfather.
