Green Hornet Wiki

In the continuity of the NOW Comics, Hayashi Kato was the crime-fighting partner of Britt II, Alan Reid, and Paul Reid.

Role in the NOW Comics[]

Hayashi Kato was born in 1948 to Ikano and Oshi Kato. He was raised to be a master martial artist, like his father,, who had originated the "Kato" vigilante persona. Hayashi eventually took over the Kato mantle himself and worked with Britt Reid II, who had taken over the guise of the Green Hornet. The two operated together from 1968-1979 and are regarded in the NOW Comics as being analogous to the Britt Reid and Kato of the television series.

Hayashi continued in his role as Kato after Britt Reid II's heart attack, working with Alan Reid. This duo's time together was short-lived as Allan was killed in an explosion during his inaugural mission as the Green Hornet. After Hayashi's sister, Mishi, abandoned the Kato persona to become the Crimson Wasp, Hayashi once again resumed the role of Kato, this time teaming with Paul Reid.

Notes[]

In the miniseries Kato of the Green Hornet, Kato says that his mother Oshura is Chinese and changed her name to Japanese, however, this name is not revealed.
