In the continuity of the comic books published by Dynamite Entertainment, Britt Elijah Reid Jr. is the spoiled son of Britt Reid Sr., the original Green Hornet, who is portrayed as elderly and retired from vigilante activity.
Creation[]
Britt Reid Jr. was created by film director and screenwriter Kevin Smith for a Green Hornet film in the early 2000s that never materialized. When Dynamite Entertainment acquired the comic book publishing rights to the Green Hornet franchise, they hired artist Alex Ross to re-design the characters and then adapted Smith's script as one of their first books in their Green Hornet series. As such, this version of Britt Reid Jr. is part of the continuity called Earth-818793, which consists of several titles published by Dynamite Entertainment.
Role in the Dynamite Comics[]
After Britt Reid Jr's father is murdered by a yakuza mobster called The Black Hornet whose family had been shamed by the original Green Hornet, Britt Reid Jr. vows to get vengeance and becomes a new iteration of the Green Hornet character. The original Kato's daughter, Mulan Kato, becomes the sidekick of this new Green Hornet, and likewise takes over her father's crime fighting career. Britt Reid Jr. is trained by an aged but very fit Kato in China before beginning his crime-fighting career.
