Green Hornet Wiki

In the continuity of the Now Comics, Britt Elijah Reid II was the second individual to become the Green Hornet and operated in the role from 1968 to 1979. He is the nephew of Britt Reid, the original Green Hornet, whom he was named after. In the world of the NOW Comics, Britt Reid II is considered to be synonymous with the version of Britt Reid who appeared in the 1966-1967 TV series.

Role in NOW Comics[]

Britt was born in 1936, the son of Jack Reid and Helen Sawyer Reid, and was the younger brother of Tom Reid. In 1949, Britt's uncle (also named Britt) revealed himself to be the notorious Green Hornet to Jack, Tom, and the young Britt. After hearing the tale of how and why the older Britt chose to become the Hornet, this inspired the younger Britt to become the next Green Hornet, and in 1968, achieved this goal. Taking to the streets with Hayashi Kato (son of Ikano Kato, the first Green Hornet's sidekick) and a new Black Beauty, Britt continued to operate as the Hornet until a heart attack in October of 1979 forced him into retirement. In 1981, he married Lenore Case, and had a son named Dan Reid III in 1983.

In 1986, he and the senior Britt gave his approval to Alan Reid to become the new Green Hornet. Alan was killed in an explosion during his first "mission", which strained Britt II's relationship with Hayashi, who had accompanied Alan during his fatal mission. In 1989, he and Mishi Kato began developing a new Black Beauty during her time at MIT. Later that year, Paul Reid became the new Hornet after the death of the senior Britt. Mishi brought Hayashi Kato back to the Reid home and he and Britt II mended their friendship. He continued to assist Paul during Paul's time as the Green Hornet.
